AIMS AND OUTCOMES

This course is aimed at personnel responsible for the issuing and control of lifting equipment from a Rigging Loft on-board an offshore installation or a shore based workplace and to provide delegates with a better knowledge and understanding of practical requirements in running an operational rigging loft.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Introduction to rigging loft operations
  • Procedural operation of a rigging loft and the inspection of lifting equipment and accessories
  • Procedure for the control of quarantined equipment
  • Recording and registration of lifting equipment Familiarisation with the various lifting equipment usually found in a Rigging Loft, the way the equipment must be stored and issued
  • Inspections that must be carried out before the equipment is used, and how the equipment must be inspected and returned to the Rigging Loft after use
  • Various examples of equipment damaged through incorrect usage are shown and discussed
  • Inspection of wire rope and webbing slings
  • Handout material covers example inspection forms and certificates for all equipment generally found in a Rigging Loft

  • Lifting equipment inspection procedures
  • In-service wear, corrosion, abrasion etc.
  • Discard criteria, quarantine areas in Rigging Loft
  • Inspection of lifting equipment and critical areas for inspection
  • Following company procedures
  • Portable lifting equipment examination/inspection procedures
  • Equipment register & control documents
